Lotterien-Sporthilfe-Gala: Verena Preiner und Wolfgang Adler gewinnen Niki-Trophäen

Verena Preiner (Union Ebensee) wurde am 31.10. zur Aufsteigerin des Jahres 2019 und ihr Trainer Wolfgang Adler zur Trainerpersönlichkeit 2019 gekürt. 

Damit hält die Erfolgsserie der österreichischen Leichtathletik bei der Sporthilfe-Gala weiter an: 2016 wurde Lukas Weißhaidinger zum Aufsteiger des Jahres gewählt, 2018 sein Trainer Gregor Högler zur Trainerpersönlichkeit der Jahres und jetzt Verena Preiner, die Bronze-Medaillengewinnerin der Weltmeisterschaft in Doha im Siebenkampf, zur Aufsteigerin des Jahres: „Ich freue mich irrsinnig. Das ist auch eine Belohnung für das gesamte Team und meine Familie.“ 
Ihr Trainer Wolfgang Adler wurde zur Trainerpersönlichkeit des Jahres gewählt: „Ich danke Verena für die wunderbare Saison und allen die mich gewählt haben dass ich heute hier stehen darf.“

Bei der Wahl zur Sportlerin des Jahres kam dann Verena Preiner sogar noch auf den zweiten Platz mit 991 Punkten hinter der Eisschnelläuferin Vanessa Herzog (1.104 Punkte). 

Auch der WM Bronze-Medaillengewinner im Diskuswurf, Lukas Weißhaidinger (ÖTB OÖ LA), war unter den nominierten Sportlern des Jahres. Er kam mit 616 Punkten auf Platz 3 hinter Dominic Thiem (895p) und Marcel Hirscher (1.185p).
